The private medical services at the North Woolwich Dental practice is led by medical practitioner Gitana Paskauskiene who has over 20 years of experience working as a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, independent nurse prescriber, and advanced medical practitioner.
She was awarded a Registered Nurse diploma in 1994 from the Lithuanian Mazylio Medical School in Kaunas.
Gitana continued her studies at the University of Greenwich, focusing on physiological disorders and stress, neuroscience, neuropharmacology, and pathophysiology. She was awarded a Bachelors of Science in Human Physiology in 2003.
In 2004, she received her full nursing qualification from the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the UK.
She advanced her studies and earned a postgraduate diploma (Master's pathway) in Advanced Clinical Practice from London South Bank University in 2018.
Gitana’s medical career started at the Red Cross Hospital in Kaunas town, in Lithuania in 1994, where she worked as a registered nurse.
After relocating to the UK in 1995, she worked as a staff nurse in the oncology ward at the Bromley NHS Trust, Princess Royal University Hospital. Her responsibilities included daily medical care of oncology patients, their physical health assessment, managing their medication, giving blood transfusions and chemotherapy, doing aseptic procedures.
After seven years of work with oncology patients she started working as a practise nurse at the Elm House Surgery in Beckenham Beacon in 2011.
From 2015 until the present day, she works as a part-time advanced clinical practitioner and independent prescriber at Tudor Way Surgery in Petts Wood. At the practise she assesses, diagnoses, treats and manages acute and chronic conditions.
Gitana’s qualification and work experience allows her to prescribe or change patients' existing medications. She orders medical tests, including but not limited to blood, hormone, organ function, and cancer screening tests. She is qualified to issue referrals for X-rays, body scans, and any other necessary medical procedures aiming to assist in obtaining an accurate and timely diagnosis.
She specialises in treating advanced diabetes, including prescribing and managing medication and insulin injections. She orders and interprets diabetes diagnostic tests.
Gitana has a particular interest in managing women’s health. She earned a specialized certification following training from the British Menopause Society and provides consultation and treatment plans for women during perimenopause and menopause times.
